1986 Alternative – Never Worn
The new England third kit was launched in 1986 but was never worn in action by the English players. The shirt was introduced as the alternative kit for the 1986 World Cup worn in Mexico but England never needed it as they wore the home shirt all the way through. The only time any form of English blue was seen at the tournament was when they wore blue shorts and socks to accompany the white shirt in the quarter final defeat to Argentina.

The England Alternative kit for the 1986 World Cup contains a predominately blue shirt with a large navy blue V neck collar that contains a thin white and red trim throughout. The design of the shirt is styled with two similar light tones of blue running in vertical stripes throughout. There is also some sort of red and navy blue thin pattern that runs along the shoulders. Manufacturers Umbro place their navy blue logo in the top right of the shirt whilst the England national crest is situated in the top left with the FIFA World Cup wording below in navy blue. The back of the shirt contains a large navy blue number.
