1986 Home – Launched 17 May 1986
The new England home kit was launched in 1986 and was worn during all of their five matches in the 1986 World Cup alongside the two warm up games in the two weeks beforehand. The shirt’s first appearance was on the 17th May 1986 in a warm up game against Mexico with a 3-0 England victory. However, it made it’s last appearance in England’s 2-1 quarter final World Cup defeat to Argentina that is famously remembered for Maradona’s “hand of god” goal.

The England home kit that was worn during the 1986 World Cup contains the traditional mainly white shirt. The design of the shirt is styled with two similar light tones of white running in vertical stripes throughout. The collar is a large navy blue V neck collar with a thin red and white trim running centrally inside the collar throughout. Manufacturers Umbro place their navy blue logo in the top right of the shirt whilst the England national crest is positioned in the top left. The back of the shirt also contains a large red number.
