1988 Away – Launched 24 May 1988
The new England away kit made it’s debut on the 24th May 1988 in the 1-1 friendly draw with Columbia at Wembley. The kit was retired on the 11th October 1989 after the 0-0 World Cup qualifer with Poland in Chorzow. In total, the kit was only worn on four occasions by 24 different players. Noticable milestones whilst wearing this kit including Viv Anderson’s final cap and international debuts for Alan Smith, Mel Sterland and Brian Marwood.

The England away kit contains a predominately red shirt with a red polo neck collar that contains a white trim. The design of the shirt is styled with two similar tones of red running in vertical stripes throughout. Manufacturers Umbro place their white logo in the top right of the shirt whilst the national England crest lies in the top left. Other details on the shirt include a red and white button strip below the collar and a small navy blue trim on the edge of the sleeves. The kit is completed with white shorts that contains a navy blue trim and red socks.
