England goalkeeper jersey 10/12

Following the recent unveiling of their new home shirt, European nation England have officially revealed their new goalkeeper strip that they will be wearing in correlation to the home shirt throughout the 2012 European Championship qualifying campaign.

Everybody associated with the England national team will hope that the unveiling of the new shirts will be a step to forgetting the disastrous 2010 World Cup campaign. Two unconvincing draws with the USA and Algeria was followed by a scrappy victory over Slovenia which advanced them into the knockout stages. However, a meeting with old foes Germany turned into a disaster with England on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline. Fabio Capello will have to restore his and his team’s reputation in the Euro 2012 qualification programme which sees them face Montenegro, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Wales. The team got off to the perfect start to the campaign with a 4-0 home victory over Bulgaria and a 3-1 win away to Switzerland.

The new 2010/11 England home goalkeeper shirt is predominately black with thin purple piping running down the sides, on the shoulders and down the thin vertical strip leading out from the collar. Other noticable details include the small faint grey crosses that are place all over the front of the body and a black V neck collar. Manufacturers Umbro position their white logo in the top right of the shirt whilst the usual red, white and blue three lions national badge is situated opposite in the top left. A single black star is place above the badge to represent England’s sole World Cup triumph in 1966.
